The President of the House of Representatives of the Netherlands ((オランダ語:Voorzitter van de Tweede Kamer der Staten-Generaal)) is one of the 150 members of the House of Representatives and is elected to lead the meetings of the House. Also he or she is chairman of the Presidium of the House and the Commission for the method. The current President of the House of Representatives has been Anouchka van Miltenburg of the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD) since 25 September 2012.〔 (Van Miltenburg nieuwe voorzitter ), NOS, 25 September 2012〕 ==Duties== In addition to the duties and responsibilities of an ordinary Member of the House of Representatives, the President of the House of diverse tasks. First, he or she leads the meetings of the House. This means that the President opens and closes the meetings and at meetings determines who speaks. The members of the House and the ministers and state secretaries never speak directly against each other but always through the President. One reason for this is that it theoretically impossible to be angry at the person with whom one is in debate. One finally speaks against the President who is impartial. Like all other members of the House the President also takes part in the voting in the House. Besides leading the meetings the President represents the House as a whole, such as ceremonies and visits by foreign heads of state. As chairman of the Presidium he or she plays also a role in determining the budget of the House, setting the agenda of the House and the appointment of the staff of the House. The President is supported in his or her duties by a team of Vice Presidents, divided into a First Vice President, Second Vice President etc., which also are members of the House. In the event that the President is unable to lead a meeting (the President is absent or takes part in the debate itself) the meeting is chaired by the First Vice President.
